Our Sunday School offers a comprehensive program of religious education to all children of the parish, from Kindergarten through 12th grade. The mission of our Sunday School is to reinforce and expand upon a child’s parental teaching of the Orthodox Church, its holidays, its Saints, its traditions, and its history. The classes emphasize the morals and values of Orthodoxy to help guide children in becoming strong Orthodox Christians. Our dedicated teachers and students have been working together to achieve this mission. All students are expected to attend the Divine Liturgy with their parents. Lessons will be taking place every Sunday after Holy Communion.
Our Sunday School program reflects the NEW curriculum implemented by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. This curriculum provides high-quality lesson plans, learning materials, and supporting resources for students in Kindergarten through High School. Designed specifically for the realities of parish religious education, the curriculum helps teachers engage students in learning about the Orthodox Faith while reducing preparation time and providing clear instructional support.
The National Sunday School Curriculum is organized into five developmental levels that span Kindergarten through High School. Each level contains multiple curriculum years, units, lesson plans, and supporting resources designed to help students grow in their understanding of the Orthodox Faith. Each curriculum year includes a clear focus, multiple instructional units, weekly lesson plans, and supporting learning materials designed for parish religious education.
Kindergarten: Learning about my relationship with God.
First Grade: Learning the Old Testament prophecies and the life of Christ and His Parables
Second Grade: Understanding the examples of Christ and the Saints.
Third Grade: Worshiping in my Church
Fourth Grade: Using prayer and Scripture to connect with God.
Fifth and Sixth Grade: Living a life worthy of Christ through the examples of the Saints and understanding the Divine Liturgy, the sacraments (mysteries), and the Scripture.
Seventh and Eighth Grade: Using icons, hymns and prayers to understand the Feasts of the Church; Learning how to practice my Faith intentionally through Holy examples, ascetics, and spiritual exercise.
Ninth, Tenth, Eleventh, and Twelfth Grade: Understanding basic doctrine of Orthodoxy and my relationship with the Church; Exploring the deeper traditions of Orthodox Worship; Using the history of my Church to understand and communicate my Faith; and Participating in sacramental life as a young adult.
As we continue on this journey of faith, we are reminded of Christ’s words: “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” (2 Peter 3:18)

To register your child, parents must be Stewards of Holy Trinity – St. Nicholas GOC for the current year.
