Kritiki Filoxenia

Kritiki filoxenia was founded on Staten Island in 1992. A group of approximately 20 people came together and created the “syllogo.” Kritiki Filoxenia’s mission is to maintain, preserve and grow the Cretan Culture and traditions, together with the Greek language and Orthodox faith for the Cretan Americans who live on Staten Island. Over the years, Kritiki Filoxenia has helped in various philanthropic, cultural, and educational works on Staten Island as well as in the greater New York area. All Cretans, members and friends of Kritiki Filoxenia, believe that “Λαός που δεν γνωρίζει και τιμά την ιστορία του είναι καταδικασμένος να πεθάνει.” For this reason, we will continue united and strong!

Kritiki Filoxenia is proud to have two dancing groups under its wings. The first Cretan Dance group was created a few years after Kritiki Filoxenia was founded and has continued with new dancers until today. In 2009, another group of Cretan dancers was added for 3 to 7 years old children. The Cretan Dancers have been dancing at various cultural events on Staten Island and in the greater New York area for many years and have represented our Cretan culture in a very professional and unique way.
